About Us
Kinky Nomad is conscious apparel for the African diaspora, designed by founder Ruth Smith. Born in Trinidad and Tobago and now based in Ghana since 2010, Ruth's design language is shaped by a life lived across the diaspora and the continent — with travels through Benin, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Malawi all leaving their mark on the collections.
Every piece belongs to a series, each carrying its own meaning: the Adinkra-inspired geometry of Savanna, the gold-on-black imagery of Kemet, and the Ghanaian towns of All Roads Lead to Ghana that trace Ruth's own journey home. This isn't fast fashion — it's wearable intention, drawn from a life actually lived across these places, not borrowed from them.
